Ger-‘Mans’ Best Friend, Dogs in Germany

I spent the last 4 weeks in Germany. And boy oh boy, Germany is full of all shapes and sizes of dogs. Yes, in Germany there are a few more people, and therefore a few more dogs… BUT the most fabulous thing I realised, is that dogs were allowed everywhere! Almost no signs of dogs with a big crossed line, saying that dogs are not allowed in this area,… Dogs are allowed in the shops, on the trains, in the cities, in the malls and even in the restaurants! From the tiny tea-cup of a dog with little pink bows in their hair, to the big strong bundle pulling its master. There are even some lucky ones that travel in the front baskets of bikes. And the best thing: They are all so well behaved! The dogs in the restaurant, were just kept underneath the table; in malls they even joined their master in the changing room,… I think I”ve seen it all! : )  It was hilarious, open minded and just wonderful. Wouldn’t it be fabulous, to be able to take your dog wherever you go? Ok, there are a few places where dogs obviously are not and should never be allowed. Butchers and grocery shops are the best examples. Where the food can be a too easily accessible to a curious snout!… But again, wouldn’t it be great for the relationship between your dog and yourself? The bond, the trust, the love, everything will get stronger and more beautiful, the more quality time you spend together!? And it is so much better than leaving your dog behind in the car… Especially if the temperatures are the same as they were in Germany…..
